Calculating Part Time Workers holidays
Part time workers are entitled to a pro rated amount of holiday in accordance with the percentage of hours they work in comparison to a full time worker. This included bank holidays.
As bank holidays often fall on Mondays and Fridays a part time worker may disproportionately benefit (or not) from these bank holidays depending on their weekly pattern of working.
Adjustments must be made to allow for this differential. If they benefit from too few bank holidays the difference should be added to their annual leave. If they benefit from too many, taking their overall leave above what they are entitled to, then the difference is deducted from their overall bank holiday.
